Water Leak and Stopcocks

Know where your stopcock is!  Each flat has a stop cock to turn off the mains water to the individual flat.

Water main for the whole block: there is a stopcock for the whole building in the basement but this should only be used as a last resort as it will stop the water supply to all flats.

In Case the Fire Alarm Rings:

If you are home when the alarm sounds, please make your way to the entrance and check the panel which will state the area the issue has been detected in.  Only if you are satisfied there is no problem - i.e. the panel says ‘staircase’, and you have checked and there is no fire in the staircase, then you may silence the alarm.  If you are unsure you should not silence it and call 999.

The detectors in the common parts are smoke detectors and are sensitive to large dust clouds, or vape or cigarette smoke as well as smoke from actual fires.  For this reason please ensure that no one engages in any activity which could trigger the system.  Including if you burn the toast at home, please open a window not your front door!

In the event of Fire:
